What a single casing can reveal.
A scan is the start, not the answer. The Revelen platform turns a recovered casing into something an investigator can act on: how many guns were at a scene, which incidents connect, and where a weapon has been before.
Number of firearms at a scene
The casings on the ground tell you more than that shots were fired. Revelen reads each recovered casing and shows how many distinct firearms were used, so investigators know early whether they are looking for one shooter or several.
Placeholder for Carlos's real example. This is the use case that prompted the question in the 6/26 call, so it likely has a strong story behind it.
Linking multiple crime scenes to one weapon
The same firearm shows up across incidents, a gun passed around a group, or a prolific shooter working a corridor. Revelen ties casings from different scenes back to the same weapon, so repeat and prolific offenders surface instead of staying hidden in separate case files.
Placeholder for Carlos's real example, e.g. the Burbank case or a gang gun-sharing scenario.
Cross-jurisdictional matching
Crime does not stop at a city or county line. Revelen matches a casing in one jurisdiction against weapons and cases in another, surfacing connections no single agency would see on its own. The more agencies on the platform in a region, the stronger every match becomes.
Placeholder for Carlos's real example, e.g. the Wyoming poaching case that matched across jurisdictions.
More ways agencies put the platform to work.
Raised in the same conversation, with lighter detail. Confirm with Carlos which of these belongs alongside the three above as a fourth primary use case.
Officer-involved shootings
Independently verify how many rounds were discharged and tie them to the weapon involved.
Missing-weapon identification
Connect a recovered casing to a firearm that has not been found, putting an identity on the gun before it is in hand.
Crime-pattern analysis
Read casings across time and place to surface patterns, the foundation for rapid casing analysis at scale.
